A letter from Pastor Lane and Steve Causey, Finance Chair

Dear St. John’s Church Family,

Love is a Gospel verb. It is more than something we feel. It is something we practice. In some of his final words to his disciples, Jesus gave them a command that would shape their life together: “Love one another as I have loved you.”

At St. John’s, we see that love taking shape every day – in the way we care for one another, welcome our neighbors, worship and grow together, and serve our community. We see it in children and youth finding a place to belong, in neighbors receiving food and care, in people discovering community, and in the many ways this congregation reaches beyond our walls.

As we look toward 2027, our stewardship theme, Love One Another, invites us to consider what God has placed in our hands and what we can do with it together. Our time, gifts, abilities, relationships, and financial resources all become part of the ministry we share. None of us can do everything, but each of us has something to offer.

This is why stewardship is about more than a budget. It is about our shared commitment to the mission and vision of St. John’s: Love. Grow Together. Serve Our Neighbors. When we give, we help create the ministry and community we hope to share in the year ahead.

As we look toward 2027, we are excited about what lies ahead for St. John’s. Our aspirational budget reflects our hopes to continue investing in the ministries and priorities that help us live out our mission and vision– including continued support for Family Ministries, local and regional mission, and the facilities, technology, and resources that support our ministry.

On Commitment Sunday, October 25, each of us is invited to prayerfully make a commitment for 2027. As you do, we encourage you to ask not only, “How much will I give?” but also, “What will I do with what God has placed in my hands?”

We are grateful for the generosity, faith, and love that make the ministry of St. John’s possible. We are also excited about what lies ahead and about the ways God will continue to work through us – and through all that we bring together.

Thank you for being part of this community and for the many ways you help St. John’s live out the way of love.

With gratitude and hope,

Rev. Lane Cotton Winn

One Example of What Your Generosity Makes Possible

As part of this year’s stewardship, we’re excited to share our newly redesigned St. John’s website. The new site makes it easier to connect with our church, explore our ministries, and find ways to and find ways to Love. Grow Together. Serve Our Neighbors.

This is one example of what your generosity has made possible this year.

Take a look around and explore all that’s happening at St. John’s.
