Serving Beyond Our Walls

Mission trips are an opportunity to put faith into action by serving others, building relationships, and sharing Christ's love in tangible ways. Whether close to home or farther away, each trip combines meaningful service with spiritual growth, giving participants the chance to make a difference while being transformed themselves. Everyone, from first-time volunteers to seasoned mission team members, is invited to be part of the journey.

Serving Together

St. Mark's Partnership

Two to three times a year, St. John’s travels to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in New Orleans for a Sunday of hands-on mission and fellowship.
St. Mark’s hosts a weekly meal ministry for people experiencing homelessness in their neighborhood, and St. John’s volunteers join them to prepare and serve a home-cooked meal for about 100 people. We also have the opportunity to worship alongside the St. Mark’s congregation, making this more than a day of service. It’s a chance to build relationships and share in the life of another church community.
This is a wonderful one-day, multigenerational mission opportunity, and everyone is welcome to participate.

Upcoming opportunities to serve at St. Mark’s are announced through our Sunday Bulletin and email list.

Youth Missions

Our youth serve throughout the year through local mission projects, community partnerships, church workdays, and mission trips. These experiences give students opportunities to put their faith into action, build relationships, and discover how they can make a real difference in the lives of others.
Youth participate in food drives, the Great Turkey Giveaway, Days for Girls, church workdays, community service projects, and summer mission trips. Recent trips have included home repair projects in the Mississippi Delta and a week of service in Houston, where students served meals to people experiencing homelessness, participated in sports ministry with children, and visited nursing homes.

Connecting with God's Global Church

International Missions

Our commitment to mission extends beyond Baton Rouge. St. John’s supports global mission partners who share Christ’s love, build relationships across cultures, and serve communities around the world.
One of our mission partners is missionary Guillermo “Willie” Berman Ramirez, Director of Manos Juntas Mexico, a nonprofit serving the community of Río Bravo, Mexico, just across the border from McAllen, Texas. We also send mission teams to serve alongside partners around the world. Recent teams have traveled to Cuba, and previous teams have served in India.
