St. John's Children

Growing in Faith Through Participation

Children in Worship

At St. John's, children are an important part of our service. During worship, children are invited forward for a special Children's Moment where they hear a message designed just for them and discover how God's love connects to everyday life. Our children also have opportunities to lead prayer in worship, showcase their musical gifts, and serve as acolytes on Sunday.
All children are also welcome to attend service in our PrayGround, a special quiet play area at the front of the sanctuary, equipped with toys, coloring and games.

Worship for the Whole Family

The St. John's
Prayground

Children are always welcome in worship at St. John's. Located within the sanctuary, our Prayground is a child-friendly worship space designed to help children participate in the service in ways that are meaningful and engaging for their age. With quiet activities, books, and hands-on resources, children can worship alongside their families while remaining connected to the larger congregation. Should you need it, you may also visit the bride’s room in the Narthex (lobby) for a quiet and private space.

Infant to 18 months

Nursery

The St. John's Nursery is led by Cheryl Roubique and provides a safe, loving, and engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years. More than childcare, our nursery is a place where little ones are nurtured, encouraged, and surrounded by God's love while parents and caregivers participate in worship, classes, and church activities.

The nursery is open Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Please label all belongings, including diaper bags, bottles, cups, and pacifiers. We recommend bringing your normal diaper bag supplies and any comfort items your child may need. All children must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian. Please inform nursery staff of any allergies, medical concerns, feeding schedules, or special needs. Children are released to the adult who checked them in, unless other arrangements have been made.

Sundays from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m.

Sunday "Upstairs Café"

During the school year, the Upstairs Café opens at 9:30 a.m. as children and students (Kindergarten through 12th grade) arrive for Sunday morning activities. It's a welcoming place to grab a snack, catch up with friends, and relax before heading to age-appropriate Sunday School classes, which begin around 10:00 a.m. Whether you're new or have been coming for years, the Upstairs Café is a great place to start your Sunday.

All families bring fresh, cut fruit to share with everyone on a rotating basis during the school year.

Makers

Sunday Rehearsals
3:00-4:00 p.m.

Through singing, instruments, worship leadership, and special performances, young people learn that music is more than an activity. It is a way to express faith, serve others, and participate in the life of the church. Whether your child is just beginning to explore music or already loves to perform, there are opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute alongside peers in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Contact Dr. Steve Rushing, our Choir Director, to enroll in Music Makers.

Provide A Meal
For the Kids & Youth

Providing dinner for our Sunday evening Kids’ Night and Youth Group is a meaningful way to support our children and youth! Meals can be homemade, picked up from a favorite restaurant, or cooked from scratch. You'll be helping out with both dinner and fellowship for our youngest members. Fill out the form below to sign up to provide a meal or learn more about serving with Family Ministries.
